atc-sca2
ATC SCA2

ATC SCA2: class A stereo preamplifier with balanced and unbalanced inputs

ATC SCA2 is the top-level preamplifier in the ATC catalogue and has been made without interruption since 1996. It is meant to accompany the high-end ATC active loudspeakers and power amplifiers, for example the ATC P2. Inputs and outputs, both balanced and unbalanced, allow it to be connected to a great variety of components.

The circuitry is entirely discrete, in class A and low in noise. The high-current output stages keep distortion down with any load and with long cables, while the 500 kHz bandwidth avoids phase rotation. As an option, the internal SPH2 phono card for MC and MM cartridges can be added, with adjustable gain and loading, and it takes up one of the line inputs. The infrared remote control is machined from solid aluminium; the unit is built by hand in the United Kingdom.

Technical features

Inputs: two balanced XLR stereo and six unbalanced RCA stereo; sensitivity 230 mV

Pre outputs: one balanced XLR stereo and one unbalanced RCA stereo

Recorder outputs: two RCA stereo

Maximum output level: 17 V RMS balanced and 8.5 V RMS unbalanced, into 600 Ohm

Frequency response: from DC to above 500 kHz (-3 dB)

Harmonic distortion: lower than 0.0005% at 1 kHz

Signal-to-noise ratio: above 108 dB (IEC A); crosstalk beyond 90 dB between 10 Hz and 20 kHz

Size and weight: height 102 mm, width 440 mm, depth 353 mm; 6.85 kg
