Seven regulated supply rails for ND 555 and compatible Classic sources
Naim 555 PS is the 500 Series DR power supply, required by ND 555 and also compatible with NDX 2, NDS and other suitably equipped Naim sources.
The single Naim 555 PS corresponds to the current NAPS 555 DR: an external supply with a dedicated transformer, five separate windings and seven regulated voltages. With ND 555 it is not merely an upgrade because the network player requires at least one unit to operate; with other compatible products it can replace or supplement the supply arrangement intended for that source.

The required component beside ND 555
ND 555 is designed without an internal supply intended for standalone operation, so 555 PS forms part of the player's basic configuration. The connection delivers the rails required by different internal sections; official compatibility guidance also permits a two-supply arrangement so the relevant loads can be split across separate units.
It is not the same role as NPX 300
NPX 300 belongs to New Classic and powers NSS 333, NAC 332 and NSC 222. 555 PS remains tied to Classic and 500 Series products with the appropriate dedicated connections. The two supplies are not interchangeable simply by choosing another cable, because compatibility is defined by the connected electronics.
One supply architecture for several sources
The same platform can also be used with NDX 2 and several earlier Naim sources, so 555 PS appears in more than one upgrade route. Within a 500 Series system, however, ND 555 is its most direct partner: the player handles streaming and conversion while the external supply moves voltage generation away from the audio chassis. The chassis carries no audio signal of its own; its sole task is to generate and regulate the supply rails required by the connected product.
