The Q Acoustics Concept 300 is the brand's reference standmount: a two-way reflex design with a 165 mm mid/bass driver and 28 mm tweeter that inherits the acoustic solutions of the Concept 500. It is supplied as a pair, with or without Tensegrity stands.
Concept 300: Dual Gelcore, isolation base and Tensegrity stand
The Concept 300 cabinet is built in Dual Gelcore: several layers separated by a gel that turns higher-frequency vibration into heat, for very quiet panels. Point to Point internal braces damp the walls, remove unwanted energy and reduce distortion. Beneath the cabinet is a suspended isolation base, which stops vibration travelling through the underside of the speaker in either direction. The drive units are also decoupled from the cabinet and, together with the crossover, offer wide dispersion.
The speaker was conceived together with its support. The Tensegrity stand is a structure of load-bearing bars in solid stainless steel that form a tripod stable by construction. This page describes the speaker: it can be had complete with Tensegrity stands or without them, for those who already own a suitable support, and the finishes on offer differ between the two. The stand is also offered separately.
The stated figures are a 55 Hz-30 kHz response, 84 dB sensitivity, 6 ohms nominal with a 4.7 ohm minimum and amplifiers of 25 to 200 W; the crossover sits at 2.5 kHz and internal volume is 11.4 litres. The cabinet measures 35.5 x 20 x 40 cm and weighs 14.5 kg; mounted on the stand the assembly reaches 69 x 49.2 x 43 cm. Supplied are grilles, foam bungs, terminal jumpers and a cleaning cloth.
