Primare A35.2: 2 x 200 W stereo power amplifier with UFPD 2 technology
A35.2 is a stereo power amplifier with balanced inputs: it delivers 200 W per channel into 8 ohms and, when bridged to mono, 800 W into the same load. Primare presents it as the natural partner of the PRE35 preamplifier in its various configurations. It is not a modular unit, yet it lends itself to several uses: a single stereo amplifier, or several units for bi-amping or for bridged operation.
Amplification is Primare's UFPD 2, a proprietary analogue class D technology, and a UFPD 2 power module, entirely new, was developed for this model. The power supply is new as well, with custom-wound transformers. Primare states that the result is immediate and sustained power delivery, very low distortion, a fast rise time and linear amplification over the whole bandwidth. The standby button is set into the Primare logo on the fascia.
Key features
- Stereo power: 2 x 200 W into 8 ohms, 2 x 400 W into 4 ohms
- Bridged power in mono configuration: 800 W into 8 ohms
- UFPD 2 amplification, analogue class D
- Inputs: one balanced XLR stereo pair plus RCA inputs
- 12 V trigger: two 3.5 mm jacks, input and output
- RS232 port for control by external systems
- Weight: 11.7 kg
Connections
The signal arrives from the preamplifier through the balanced XLR inputs or the RCA ones. The two 12 V trigger sockets let the amplifier switch on together with the rest of the system, and the RS232 serial port makes it manageable by a control system.
Technical data
The dimensions are 430 mm wide, 400 mm deep and 145 mm high. The finishes on sale are Black and Titanium.
