Pro-ject X1 - X2 Aluminum Sub-Platter Upgrade

An aluminium sub-platter with a stainless steel spindle for the X1 and X2 turntables: it takes the place of the standard part and brings more mass and precision to the drive system.

X1 - X2 Aluminium Sub-Platter Upgrade: what changes

The sub-platter is the disc the belt runs on and the main platter rests on. This version for the X1 and X2 is diamond-cut from aluminium, a process that allows far tighter tolerances than an ordinary sub-platter. A more precise part turns more evenly, and that shows up as more accurate rotational speed.

At 700 g, the sub-platter adds mass to the platter and drive assembly as a whole. That extra mass damps noise and unwanted resonances and steadies the speed over short intervals, the figure measured as wow and flutter. The spindle is stainless steel.
