Nine channels for a cinema room that can grow
CINEMA 40 is a 9.4-channel, 125 W AV amplifier with seven 8K HDMI inputs, HEOS and Audyssey MultEQ XT32.
CINEMA 40 is intended for a dedicated theatre or substantial room where nine powered channels must directly drive 5.1.4 or 7.1.2. Processing extends to 11.4 channels, allowing an external power amplifier to enlarge the layout. All seven HDMI inputs handle 8K signals and three outputs include eARC. HEOS integrates streaming and multiroom operation; connectivity here is the control centre for video sources, music and several subwoofers.

For a room, not a specification tally
Nine internal amplifiers permit four height channels in 5.1.4 without extra electronics. A 7.1.2 owner can later add a power amplifier and use 11.4 processing. Room geometry decides the layout: more speakers cannot repair poor positions or inadequate spacing.
Seven HDMI inputs, all 8K
Consoles, disc player, video streamer and set-top box can remain connected without an external switch. Three outputs serve television, projector or another zone, while eARC returns display-app audio. Certified cables and sensible runs matter as resolution and frame rate rise.
Audyssey and four subwoofers
MultEQ XT32 measures the listening area and creates filters for channels and bass. Four sub outputs support elaborate arrangements but demand placement and measurement; they are not four unrelated bass controls to set by ear. Dirac Live is available as an optional upgrade.
HDAM in the analogue path
CINEMA 40 uses HDAM SA2 modules and current-feedback topology. These discrete circuits handle analogue signals and should not be confused with its nine output stages or a surround format. Pure Direct provides a dedicated route when processing is unnecessary.
When to choose CINEMA 50 S2
CINEMA 50 S2 retains nine channels, 110 W and six HDMI inputs at a lower price. CINEMA 40 adds output, one input and one output, higher-tier construction and facilities for the more ambitious room. Value belongs to the complete system rather than one watt figure.
