Twelve channels for whole-home audio distribution without an internal matrix
Anthem MDX12 is a 12-channel multi-room amplifier rated at 75 W per channel into 8 ohms and 150 W into 4 ohms, bridgeable to 280 W into 8 ohms in a 1U chassis.
MDX12 is designed for multi-room and whole-home audio distribution rather than as a multichannel power amplifier for one home cinema. Its twelve channels can power up to six independent stereo zones, with dedicated analogue inputs for each zone and two selectable global inputs. Unlike MDX8 and MDX16, it does not include the analogue/digital matrix or ARC Genesis, so source routing is handled by an external controller or matrix.

Multi-room, not multichannel home cinema
The twelve channels are organised to distribute music across several rooms, supporting up to six stereo zones. This role differs from MCA power amplifiers, which amplify channels from a home cinema processor: MDX12 powers independent areas of a house or distributed installation, each with its own loudspeaker pair.
75 watts per channel and bridging
Each channel delivers 75 W into 8 ohms and 150 W into 4 ohms. When a zone requires more output, two channels can be bridged to provide up to 280 W into 8 ohms, useful with more demanding loudspeakers or applications where one pair needs greater reserve.
Zone inputs and global inputs
MDX12 provides six dedicated RCA input pairs, one for each stereo zone, together with two selectable global RCA input pairs. This arrangement allows a zone-specific source or one of the shared sources to be selected, but it is not an integrated matrix like the routing system in MDX8 and MDX16.
No ARC Genesis or internal matrix
The model does not include Anthem Room Correction ARC Genesis and does not provide the analogue/digital audio matrix fitted to the other MDX models. It is therefore a simpler, more direct solution: distributed amplification, local input selection and the option to add an external matrix or control system when more complex routing is required.
1U installation
The chassis occupies a single 1U rack space and houses a power supply capable of serving all twelve channels in a compact format. Active cooling and internal protection systems support continuous operation, while rack brackets are included for installation in technical cabinets.
Local control and integration
Rear-panel controls cover power mode, input selection, gain and bridge configuration for each zone. The layout suits installations where the main control logic sits upstream and MDX12 performs the dedicated task of distributing amplifier power to the connected zones.
