Dual-mono ESS and a damped mechanism for the new Radia Series CD reference
Arcam CD25 is a CD player with dual-mono ESS Hyperstream IV DAC architecture, RCA/XLR outputs, linear toroidal power supply and vibration-damped mechanism.
CD25 takes physical playback to the top of the Radia Series, with separate processing for the two channels and a mechanism mounted on a vibration-damped internal structure. It is designed for advanced stereo systems where Compact Disc remains a primary source and XLR/RCA outputs allow different connections.
Key features
- Playback of CD, CD-R and CD-RW.
- WAV, FLAC, MP3 and AAC files from compatible data media.
- Resolution up to 24-bit/96 kHz.
- Dual-mono DAC architecture with ESS Hyperstream IV technology.
- RCA and balanced XLR analogue outputs.
- Coaxial and optical digital outputs.
- Linear power supply with toroidal transformer.
- Internally damped structure to reduce vibration.
Dual-mono ESS DAC
Digital conversion uses a dual-mono architecture with two ESS ES9039Q2M DACs, one dedicated to each channel, together with ESS reference regulators. Channel separation and balanced operation are intended to reduce noise and crosstalk, with XLR outputs for fully balanced systems and RCA for conventional connections.
Mechanism and power supply
The CD mechanism is mounted on a damped internal structure to limit vibration transfer during playback. A linear toroidal power supply provides a low-noise foundation for the digital and analogue sections, distinguishing CD25 from a simple digital transport.
Formats and connections
Alongside CD, CD-R and CD-RW, Arcam's technical page supports WAV, FLAC, MP3 and AAC files on compatible data media. Coaxial and optical outputs also allow an external DAC to be used, while RCA and XLR outputs use the internal dual-mono conversion directly.
Supplied accessories
