Arcam CD5 is a CD player with dedicated transport, ESS ES9018 DAC, CD/CD-R/CD-RW playback and FLAC, WAV and MP3 files from USB up to 24-bit/96 kHz.
CD5 brings Arcam's long experience in digital playback to the Radia range, building on the brand's history with Compact Disc players. It is designed as a simple dedicated physical source, yet adds high-resolution file playback from USB and provides both analogue and digital outputs for integration with different systems.

CD transport and conversion
Disc playback uses a dedicated transport and selected components intended to reduce errors and interference in the digital signal path. The ESS ES9018 DAC converts the signal for the analogue RCA output, allowing CD5 to operate as a complete source without requiring an external converter.
High-resolution files from USB
In addition to Compact Disc, CD5 reads FLAC, WAV and MP3 files from USB storage according to the distributor specification, at up to 24-bit/96 kHz. This allows a local file library to use the same conversion electronics and the same front-panel or remote-control operation.
Analogue and digital outputs
The stereo RCA output uses the internal DAC, while coaxial and optical outputs can send the digital signal to an external DAC or amplifier. CD5 can therefore operate either as a complete player or as a digital transport within a system that already provides conversion.
Supplied accessories
The box includes a remote control with two AAA batteries, mains lead, Quick Start Guide and safety instructions. The distributor specifies a Black finish, dimensions of 431 x 83 x 344 mm and a weight of 6 kg.
