Cherry Cola 48 Optical: an active optical 48 Gbps HDMI cable for long distances
Cherry Cola 48 Optical is an active optical HDMI cable for long-distance installations, holding the Ultra High Speed certification issued by HDMI Licensing. Its 48 Gbps bandwidth allows resolutions and frame rates such as 4K/120 and 8K/60, along with every function of the HDMI 2.1 standard.
Those who do not need 4K/120 or 8K/60 today can still use it without restrictions: the cable works with 10.2 Gbps, 18 Gbps and 48 Gbps sources. It connects televisions, projectors, soundbars and A/V receivers.
Optical fibres and conversion modules
The audio/video signal travels over quartz glass optical fibres, which add no loss with distance and galvanically isolate the two devices, making the signal immune to radio-frequency interference. At each end, electro-optical conversion modules translate the 48 Gbps signal precisely and are powered by the connection itself, with no external power supply.
Noise reduction
Noise-Dissipation is rated Level 4+. The galvanic isolation of the fibres is joined by eARC and ground-reference conductors that are both silver-plated, plus a carbon mesh surrounding the whole cable. Every metal part, control and power wires included, is laid in one specific direction, and a solid metal shield gives further protection against RF interference.
Made for installation
The jacket is fire-retardant with a Plenum rating and the plugs are compact, two details that make routing through conduit, walls or ceilings easier. The eARC channel, seldom used in video projector systems, is present and carefully built all the same.
