RCA and mini-jack interconnect in Long-Grain Copper
Evergreen is an analogue interconnect for the home system: it links turntables, TVs, AV receivers, soundbars and any device with RCA or 3.5mm mini-jack sockets. Its construction rests on three elements: solid-core wires, air-rich insulation and a shield that dissipates noise rather than dumping it to ground.
The ten lengths, from just over half a metre up to twenty metres, make it usable even when source and amplifier sit far apart.
Conductors and geometry
The wires are Long-Grain Copper (LGC), a copper whose crystal structure is more regular than that of OFHC copper: fewer grain boundaries, fewer oxides and fewer impurities. Being solid wires, they have no strand-to-strand interaction, and the distortion it produces is removed. The Asymmetrical Double-Balanced arrangement was created for single-ended links: ground and shield follow two distinct routes and the ground works at a lower impedance.
Insulation and noise reduction
Foamed polyethylene (Foamed-PE) surrounds the wires. Polyethylene is a low-loss material and, thanks to the air it holds, retains little energy: this cuts the timing errors that make sound less focused.
The metal layers of the Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation system shield the shield itself: they intercept radio and electromagnetic interference before it pollutes the ground plane of the electronics.
Terminations and lengths
The gold-plated plugs are joined to the cable by pressure, through cold welding and with no solder alloy. Lengths: 0.6 m, 1 m, 1.5 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, 8 m, 12 m, 16 m and 20 m.
- RCA to RCA: the classic link between a line-level source and the input of an amplifier or AV receiver.
- 3.5mm to RCA: carries the signal of a device fitted with a mini-jack socket to the RCA inputs of the system.
- 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male: joins two devices that both have a mini-jack socket.
