Power cable with PSS silver and PSC+ copper conductors
Silver Cloud is a mains cable built around two high-purity metals: Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) together with Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+), carefully balanced in a True-Concentric geometry.
Around the conductors sit the technologies AudioQuest applies to AC power: current transfer without compression, dissipation of radio-frequency noise and insulation biased at 72 V.
Conductors and geometry
Metal choice and strand layout serve the same purpose: lowering Transient Intermodulation (TIM) distortion, the cause of listening fatigue. PSS silver and PSC+ copper both have a surface treated to be especially even, and they are blended in studied proportions instead of relying on one material for the whole cable. True-Concentric construction keeps the layers of wire orderly from end to end.
Uncompressed current and noise reduction
Many mains cables rely only on low DC resistance. ZERO-Tech adds a characteristic impedance equal to zero, so the high-current transients triggered by the audio signal pass through without being limited. RF/ND-Tech looks after the ground wire: being an antenna as well, it picks up radio-frequency noise that slips past power supplies and enters the most sensitive circuits. A phase-cancelling array working in common mode and proprietary dielectrics, with their differential linear filtering, dissipate it over a very wide band.
The 72 V DBS (Dielectric-Bias System) keeps the insulation biased: dielectric noise falls and its filter behaviour becomes linear, which helps dissipate induced RF noise. Conductor direction is controlled, because drawn metal has an asymmetrical grain: the chosen direction moves noise away from the areas where it would create distortion, and arrows on the connectors show which way to connect the cable.
Terminations and lengths
Towards the wall socket the plug is a European Schuko. Towards the equipment two IEC connectors are offered: C13, for the standard mains inlet of most electronics, and C19, for units with a high-current inlet such as large power amplifiers and power conditioners. The cable comes in lengths of 1 m, 2 m and 3 m.
