BigFoot BASS: the bass-only speaker cable for bi-wiring with RF/ND-Tech
BigFoot BASS is a speaker cable reserved for the low range alone: it works up to 10 kHz and must never be run full-range or on the treble. It is built to partner the ZERO-Tech cables Lone Ranger or Athena on loudspeakers with separate inputs, where it connects to the bass terminals while the other cable feeds the treble.
Sold as a pair: the pack contains two cables, one for the right channel and one for the left.
Why split bass and treble
With two distinct cables, the heavy currents tied to bass energy stay out of the treble cable, and the upper frequencies follow a less modulated line: distortion falls noticeably. Level 10 RF/ND-Tech makes the gain more marked: a patented circuit based on common-mode phase cancellation draws radio-frequency energy away from the amplifier output and dissipates noise linearly along the full cable run and over the broadest possible RF band.
When tri-wiring, BASS cables serve both the midrange and the bass inputs. The two cables of a bi-wire set can be joined at the amplifier side, normally the handier option though not a mandatory one. Double bi-wiring with two ZERO-Tech cables is never to be done: the amplifier would distort.
Conductors and construction
The conductors are solid, direction-controlled Perfect-Surface Copper+ wires: no strand interaction, minimal grain-boundary distortion and maximum dissipation of RF noise. ZERO-Tech removes the electrostatic field between the two legs, so transient current is not compressed. Positive and negative run in separate jackets, which helps flexibility and leaves room for noise-fighting materials. The design is completed by the 72-volt DBS with RF Noise-Trap, Perfect-Surface Silver shield drains and Permanent Molecular Optimization treatment of the dielectric.
Terminations and lengths
Spades and bananas are very pure red copper, cold-welded and silver-plated by immersion, with ABS bodies in place of metal ones. The U-Spade and the V-Spade are clamped under the binding-post nut and differ in the shape of the opening; the Multi-Spade is shaped for posts of different diameters; the Banana plugs into the hole of the post. Lengths: 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m and 4 m.
