Two high-power channels with DSP
CDA-2HD drives installation speakers and passive subwoofers, including in bridge mode.
The single Bowers & Wilkins CDA-2HD amplifier is half rack width and 2U high. Its product dimensions are 218 × 85 × 315 mm; height with feet is 100 mm. Its two channels can drive two speakers or be bridged for a compatible passive subwoofer. Allow rack access for connections and mains power, and space for heat dissipation.
Key features
- Two channels, half-width 2U rack; 218 × 85 × 315 mm.
- 250 W/channel into 8 ohms; 500 W/channel into 4 ohms; 1000 W bridged into 8 ohms.
- Stereo analogue RCA, digital RCA and Ethernet inputs; SpeakOn speaker output.
- DSP presets and dynamic EQ; 12 V trigger input/output.
Power at the stated load
Each channel supplies 250 W into 8 ohms or 500 W into 4 ohms unclipped. Bridge mode reaches 1000 W into 8 ohms; loads must exceed 3 ohms per channel and 6 ohms bridged. Embedded DSP offers optimisation for Bowers & Wilkins speakers and dynamic EQ for subwoofers. That power reserve distinguishes it from four-channel CDA-4D, rated at 125 W per channel into 4 ohms.
Signals and control
Inputs comprise one analogue RCA pair, a digital RCA socket and Ethernet; speaker output uses SpeakOn. A 12 V trigger input and output, signal sensing and network control suit a central installation. CDA-2HD is also the external amplifier paired with passive CT SW subwoofers and ISW-8. Before bridging channels, set the output, DSP preset and wiring for the connected speaker.
The 500 W per-channel figure applies to a 4-ohm load; at 8 ohms the per-channel rating is 250 W. A bridged subwoofer uses the 1000 W into 8 ohms figure and the specified SpeakOn wiring. At 218 mm wide, two amplifiers can sit side by side across a rack width, while the chassis still needs its full 85 mm of height. Choose the DSP preset for the actual connected loudspeaker.
