A tall, narrow cinema channel
CWM7.4 S2 arranges four 100 mm drivers around a Carbon Dome tweeter.
The Bowers & Wilkins CWM7.4 S2 pair fits 599 × 149 mm cut-outs. The frame is 625 × 175 mm, requires 92.5 mm behind the wall and projects by 8 mm. The opening's 149 mm width makes it useful beside a screen where a wider speaker may be difficult to place.
Key features
- Cut-out 599 × 149 mm; frame 625 × 175 mm; depth 92.5 mm.
- Twin 100 mm Continuum mid/bass, twin 100 mm Aramid Fibre/paper bass, 25 mm Carbon Dome.
- 8-ohm impedance (4.9-ohm minimum); recommended 25–150 W.
- 2.5-way system; QuickDogs and PMK CWMC7.
A 2.5-way front-channel layout
The 25 mm Carbon Dome tweeter works with two 100 mm Continuum mid/bass units and two 100 mm Aramid Fibre/paper bass cones. It can sit beside, above or below a screen as left, centre or right channel with position and orientation planned accordingly. QuickDogs assist fitting. Compared with CWM7.5 S2, this model uses more drivers in a much taller frame.
Power and fitting
Sensitivity is 86 dB, nominal impedance 8 ohms with a 4.9-ohm minimum, and recommended power 25 to 150 W into 8 ohms. Response is 45 Hz to 28 kHz within ±3 dB. PMK CWMC7 is the pre-mount kit. Keep the full 92.5 mm behind the panel clear along the chassis height; check studs, wiring and screen position before finalising the front channels.
At almost 600 mm, the cut-out height needs a continuous wall section without blocking noggins or services. Its narrow width helps integration beside the projection screen. For a centre channel, consider placement above or below the image together with speaker orientation; the full frame dimensions determine the real clearance to visible edges. Its five drive units make this a very different layout from the smaller CWM7.5 S2.
