Network streamer with HDMI eARC
The Cambridge Audio CXN100 SE is the network streamer in the CX series: it gives access to high-resolution music from streaming services, the home network and USB drives, and fits into any traditional hi-fi system. Compared with the CXN100 it adds an HDMI eARC input, which brings television sound into the system as well.
It is controlled from the StreamMagic app or from the front panel, with its large high-resolution colour screen and volume dial. Updates arrive over the air.
Streaming services and multiroom
Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect (with MQA), Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music, internet radio, AirPlay 2 and Chromecast are supported; the CXN100 SE is Roon Ready. With Google Home, AirPlay and Roon it joins a multiroom system and plays in sync with other rooms.
Networking is Ethernet or dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz); Bluetooth 5.1 is also on board. The app is used to select sources, build playlists and adjust the tone controls.
ESS Sabre DAC, inputs and outputs
Conversion is handled by the ESS ES9028Q2M Sabre32 DAC. From the network, USB drives and the USB audio input the CXN100 SE plays PCM files up to 32-bit/768 kHz and DSD up to DSD512, in ALAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, DSD, WMA, MP3, AAC and OGG Vorbis formats; the coaxial input reaches 192 kHz and the optical input 96 kHz.
Besides HDMI eARC there are a USB Type B audio input for a computer, a USB socket for storage drives and coaxial and optical digital inputs. Outputs are balanced XLR and RCA analogue sockets plus coaxial and optical digital outputs; preamp mode, enabled from the app, allows direct connection to a power amplifier.
Finishes, dimensions and accessories
The casework is aluminium and steel, with clean lines. The CXN100 SE is available in Lunar Grey and in the limited CX Black Edition, with a matt black anodised aluminium front panel. It measures 430 x 85 x 305 mm (width, height, depth) and weighs 3.55 kg; maximum power consumption is 30 W.
The box contains the mains lead, the control bus cable, two antennas, the quick start guide, the safety sheet and the registration card.
