Pair of ultra-compact active speakers
The Cambridge Audio L/R Small (L/R S on the manufacturer's website) is a pair of active stereo speakers for smaller spaces: no external amplifier is needed, just connect a source and listen. They are designed for desks, shelves and corners of the home, as a main system or to improve television sound. The price is for the pair.
Power output is 2 x 50 W, 100 W in total. Each speaker measures 134 x 226 x 180 mm (width, height, depth); the primary speaker weighs 3.0 kg, the secondary 2.6 kg.
Drive units and DynamEQ
Each speaker has a 21 mm aluminium tweeter with waveguide and a 3-inch long-throw woofer, loaded by a rear reflex port. Together they give clean vocals, articulate bass and a wide soundstage even up close; frequency response runs from 55 Hz to 24 kHz (+/-3 dB).
The DynamEQ function adjusts low and high frequencies as the volume changes, so the sound stays full and balanced at low levels and when turned up. There are three equalisation modes (Normal, Movie and Voice) and settings for desktop use and for room position.
Bluetooth aptX HD and inputs
The wireless connection is Bluetooth with SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX HD codecs: pair once and listen, with no app or set-up. The wired inputs are USB-C for a computer, optical TOSLINK for a television and an analogue RCA pair (Aux).
The RCA subwoofer output allows a sub to be added. The two speakers are linked by the supplied 2 m cable; for longer runs there is a 5 m cable, sold separately, as are the angled desk stands.
Finishes and accessories
L/R Small is available in six finishes: black, white, blue, green, orange and walnut. The design is minimal, with a clean rear panel.
The box contains the two speakers, the mains cable, the 2 m speaker link cable (black), the Bluetooth LE remote control and the safety guide.
