Wireless over-ear headphones with noise cancelling
The Cambridge Audio Melomania P100 SE are over-ear Bluetooth headphones with active noise cancelling, designed and tuned in London by the same engineers behind the brand's hi-fi components. Compared with the first-generation P100 they have more dynamic tuning and a re-engineered headband for better comfort.
Amplification is Class A/B, the same technology as the CX Series amplifiers, driving 40 mm drivers with a three-layer composite diaphragm. The DynamEQ function adjusts bass and treble according to volume, so music stays balanced at both low and high levels.
Up to 100 hours on one charge
Battery life reaches 100 hours, 60 with noise cancelling on; a full charge over USB-C takes less than 160 minutes and five minutes is enough for four hours of listening (ANC off). The battery and the earpad cushions can be replaced with standard tools, extending the life of the headphones.
Adaptive hybrid noise cancelling uses an array of microphones to shut out external noise; a single tap switches to transparency mode to hear the surroundings. There are six microphones in all, with Qualcomm cVc technology for calls and wind noise reduction.
Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX Lossless
Bluetooth 5.3 supports the aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, AAC and SBC codecs; with Snapdragon Sound streaming reaches 24-bit/96 kHz. Multipoint keeps two devices connected at once, Google Fast Pair simplifies pairing and the wear sensor detects when the headphones are taken off.
They can also be used wired, via USB-C or a 3.5 mm jack, at up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The box contains the USB-C to USB-C cable, the USB-C to 3.5 mm jack cable and the quick start guide.
Melomania Connect app and materials
The Melomania Connect app offers a 7-band equaliser with six ready-made profiles and custom presets, the low-latency Gaming Mode (below 80 ms) and firmware updates. The headphones activate Siri and Google Assistant.
The neodymium in the magnets is 100% recycled and the plastic 50%; the packaging is plastic-free. The headphones weigh 330 g and measure 250 x 204 x 59 mm. This is the black version.
