The Q Acoustics Concept 90 Centre is the centre-channel speaker of the Concept series: two 125 mm mid/bass drivers and a 25 mm tweeter in a Gelcore cabinet, for dynamic, clear dialogue in a 5.1 home cinema system.
Concept 90 Centre: the centre channel of the Concept series
Designed to sit at the centre of a multichannel Concept system, this speaker applies to the dialogue channel the same solutions as the stereo models. The cabinet is Gelcore, the layered construction with a non-hardening gel that absorbs higher-frequency vibration and converts it to heat, so the panels add no noise of their own to the voice. A suspension base isolates the cabinet from external and internal vibration, and the crossover is mounted on it to keep it away from the magnetic fields of the drive units.
The driver assembly is fixed to the aluminium front panel with pretensioned studs, which secure the acoustic seal and limit the transmission of vibration to the cabinet. The two 125 mm mid/bass drivers and the 25 mm tweeter are new designs with higher power handling; the tweeter is airtight and floats relative to the front panel, protected from woofer resonances. The rear terminals are doubled for bi-wire connection.
Stated response is 67 Hz-30 kHz at -6 dB, with 90 dB sensitivity, 6 ohms nominal, a 3.7 ohm minimum and distortion under 0.2% between 120 Hz and 20 kHz; the suggested amplifier ranges from 25 to 150 W. The cabinet measures 18.4 x 55 x 25.9 cm, has a volume of 11 litres and weighs 12.3 kg. For wall mounting there is the Q WB75 bracket. The speaker is sold singly.
