The entry into Denon's real-wood over-ear range
Denon AH-D5200 are wired closed-back over-ear headphones with 50mm FreeEdge drivers, zebrawood cups, circumaural pads and Hi-Res Audio certification.
Design and intended use
They form the first step in the real-wood family: zebrawood stiffens the cups and gives every pair a distinct grain. The Japanese-made FreeEdge driver works in a closed enclosure, providing greater environmental separation than an open headphone. Compared with D7200 and D9200 it retains the concept and driver diameter with less ambitious materials and tuning.

Selection and setup
The headband distributes approximately 385 grams and the pads surround the ear rather than resting on it. Moderate impedance allows use with many sources, although a good headphone amplifier improves control and dynamics. It is designed for wired home listening rather than active cancellation, calls or wireless operation.
A closed headphone interacts with head shape, pad seal and position around the ears, so small variations can change bass and imaging. The source should provide a clean, suitable headphone output, and perceived run-in does not replace correct positioning. Wood and leather should also be kept away from excessive humidity and heat.
