SPL Diamond

D/A converter and digital preamplifier at 32-bit/768 kHz with VOLTAiR technology and six digital inputs.

Diamond: the design

The Diamond uses the AKM AK4490 Velvet Sound converter for PCM and DSD256, with a low-pass filter switchable between PCM and DSD. With volume on the motorised Alps pot it can drive a power amplifier directly: the XLR and RCA outputs are variable, the RCA also fixed. There is an input for an external clock.

Like the other SPL components it uses VOLTAiR technology: the audio circuits run on ±60 V rails, with discrete op-amps of SPL's own design and a shielded toroidal transformer.
