The Denon AVR-X1800H DAB is the first X Series step for listeners who want to move beyond conventional 5.1 without building a huge system. Its seven power stages support either 7.2 or 5.2.2 with height speakers, while 80W per channel into 8 ohms suits small to medium living rooms and cinema spaces. Compared with the AVC-S670H, it adds Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding, two amplified channels and a DAB+ tuner.

A practical way to start using height channels
Its advantage is not merely the channel count: video sources, music streaming and radio meet in one control centre. Three HDMI inputs handle 8K/60 and 4K/120 signals, with VRR, ALLM and QFT for compatible consoles. HEOS brings online services, network files and other Denon zones into the same system, while eARC receives TV audio over a single connection.
Within the range, this is the model to choose when one HDMI output and 80W are sufficient but immersive audio and DAB+ are already required. Anyone needing greater dynamic headroom or a second monitor output should move up to the X2800H DAB.
Automatic calibration measures the room response and establishes a coherent basis for levels and delays, while still allowing crossovers and preferences to be refined. This is useful when a system is installed for the first time and an orderly soundstage is wanted without beginning with a complex manual tuning process.
