Depth changes the installation
CCM663RD retains the CCM663 cut-out but needs only 92 mm behind the ceiling.
The Bowers & Wilkins CCM663RD pair addresses a particular constraint: each speaker needs a 202 mm opening but only 92 mm of depth behind the surface, against 133 mm for standard CCM663. The frame is 240 mm across and projects by 7 mm. RD means Reduced Depth; a shallower cone and revised QuickDogs frame make it suitable for tighter voids.

Directing the treble
The 150 mm bass/midrange driver has an Aramid Fibre cone, and the 25 mm Nautilus aluminium-dome tweeter pivots to aim towards listeners. A three-position EQ control further refines off-axis output. A round grille is supplied; a square CCM663 grille is optional. Its visible shape can be chosen as the ceiling design is finalised.
Checks before cutting
Recommended amplification is 25 to 100 W, nominal impedance 8 ohms with a 4.8-ohm minimum, and sensitivity 86 dB. The -6 dB range is 35 Hz to 50 kHz. PMK C6 and BB6W or BB125C back boxes are listed. Reduced mounting depth does not reduce the cut-out diameter: measure both dimensions and ensure there is access to wiring in the actual void.
Its front projects further than standard CCM663 despite the reduced rear depth: 7 mm rather than 4 mm on the room side. That distinction matters where panel thickness and the visible grille line are as important as the cavity. The 4.8-ohm impedance minimum should also be taken into account when specifying the amplifier. Choose the square grille only if the ceiling design calls for it.
