The anniversary monitor that develops the philosophy of Model 1
Totem Signature One is a two-way standmount loudspeaker with a 6.5-inch woofer, aluminium tweeter and hard-wired crossover network.
Created for Totem's thirtieth anniversary, it carries forward the spirit of Model 1 without being a simple reissue. Its woofer is derived from the Forest platform, while the cabinet uses internal bracing, lock-miter construction and borosilicate damping. It is intended for stereo systems prioritising imaging and precision in a compact format.
Key features
- Two-way standmount monitor.
- Proprietary 6.5-inch woofer with a 3-inch voice coil.
- 1-inch aluminium tweeter loaded by a rear chamber.
- Specified frequency response of 45 Hz-22 kHz ±3 dB.
- 87.5 dB/W/m sensitivity.
- 8-ohm nominal impedance.
- Amplifiers in the 50-200 W range are recommended.
- Bi-wireable WBT terminals and hard-wired crossover.
A compact design that is not simplified
The enclosure uses monocoque construction with interlocking joints, extensive cross-bracing and an angled internal floor intended to reduce repetitive resonances. The crossover uses a small number of parts with direct wiring, while the chambered tweeter and modified woofer are developed together to optimise their phase relationship.
Signature One or Fire V2
Both are high-end standmount monitors, but their engineering routes are different. Fire V2 uses a Torrent woofer without passive filtering in the mid/bass path and reaches a stated 30 Hz; Signature One uses a more conventional architecture with 45 Hz extension, placing greater emphasis on cabinet construction, crossover execution and two-driver integration.
Room and system matching
The nominal 8-ohm load makes it relatively easy to drive, while 87.5 dB sensitivity suggests good-quality amplification with useful reserve. Totem recommends roughly 30-90 cm from the rear wall and 1.2-3.6 m between speakers, making it well suited to small and medium rooms on rigid stands with careful attention to symmetrical placement. The woofer's 3-inch voice coil provides substantial thermal and mechanical capacity for a monitor of this size, allowing Signature One to work with amplifiers up to 200 W rather than limiting it to nearfield listening. Unlike a tower it naturally requires a suitable stand, but that also allows height and decoupling to be selected for the listening seat and room acoustics.
