A compact sealed two-way speaker with a Folded Motion tweeter set between two 89 mm woofers: it mounts horizontally as a centre channel or vertically either side of a wall-hung television, on a shelf or on the wall.
Motion 6i: how it is built
The Motion 6i is the smallest centre speaker in the compact series: 444 mm wide and 132 mm high, it fits beneath a screen even where room is tight. Its two 89 mm woofers have polypropylene diaphragms, stamped steel baskets and stiff dust caps, and work in a sealed enclosure, each in an asymmetrical chamber that keeps resonances at bay. Response runs from 120 to 23,000 Hz with 89 dB sensitivity, three more than the 2i, which uses just one woofer of the same type.
In the middle of the baffle sits the 24 × 25 mm Folded Motion tweeter. Its thin diaphragm is folded many times over and works by wringing air out from between one pleat and the next: in very little room it offers a much bigger emitting area than a conventional dome, moves less and distorts very little. The Vojtko crossover cuts in at 4,000 Hz and is designed so that every driver operates only in the band where it performs best, with a few good components and final adjustment carried out in a listening room comparable to a lounge.
The slim, curved cabinet, with the brand's characteristic perforated grille, is styled to go with a flat television. The Motion 6i can be placed lying down or standing up: it does duty as a centre, but equally as left and right channels around the screen. The Italian distributor's catalogue mentions a supplied bracket that lets it tilt towards the listener. Impedance is 6 ohms, recommended power is 20 to 130 watts and the recessed push terminals take banana plugs too.
