Concept 500: the floorstander at the top of the range
The Concept 500 is the highest model in the Concept series and brings together its most advanced technology. The cabinet walls are formed of three separate layers with a non-hardening gel in between: the resulting damping turns higher-frequency vibration into heat instead of letting the panels radiate it. This is a speaker aimed at the demanding enthusiast, in which build quality serves accuracy.
Panel vibration in the low range is handled by P2P (Point to Point) braces, placed at the points where the cabinet needs them. HPE (Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer) tubes, for their part, offset the pressure irregularities that form inside a tall column. At the rear the terminals are doubled for bi-wiring, with jumpers supplied, and a set of links allows the treble level to be raised or lowered by 0.5 dB to suit the room.
Stated response runs from 41 Hz to 30 kHz, with a 6 ohm average impedance, a 3.7 ohm minimum and 0.2% distortion between 120 Hz and 20 kHz; recommended power lies between 25 and 200 W and the crossover sits at 2.5 kHz. The cabinet measures 115 x 40 x 35 cm, rising to 117.5 x 40 x 37.5 cm overall, and weight is 42 kg. Supplied are grilles, foam bungs, spikes, ball-ended feet and a cleaning cloth.
