JBL S3900: three-way floorstanding speakers with two 250 mm woofers
The S3900 is a three-way floorstander from the Summit series, built with components of professional origin and with design choices borrowed from the K2 S9900. It is the most compact model in the family: where the S4700 relies on one 380 mm woofer, here the bass is handled by two 250 mm woofers in a narrower, lighter cabinet. Sold as a pair.
Midrange and treble come from a 45 mm compression driver with a titanium diaphragm, coupled with a patented Bi-Radial horn. The ultra-high frequencies are covered by a second, 19 mm compression driver, again with a titanium diaphragm, which has a neodymium motor and sits on a Bi-Radial horn made of SonoGlass. Both woofers use a pulp cone and a ferrite motor assembly. The cabinet is a ported design built from MDF panels 25 mm thick.

- Advanced crossover and distinct rear inputs for the low and the high frequencies
Technical data
The measurements refer to a single speaker: 1001 mm high, 370 mm wide and 368 mm deep, with a weight of 39 kg each. The binding posts are gold-plated and, thanks to the separate inputs for the two sections, allow a bi-wiring connection.
Finishes
The cabinet is covered in a real cherry wood veneer, worked with the care usually given to furniture.
