Torrent technology in a slim 36-inch on-wall loudspeaker
Totem Tribe III is a two-way on-wall loudspeaker with twin 4-inch Torrent woofers, a 1.25-inch textile tweeter and a cabinet less than 9 cm deep.
It is intended to create a wall-mounted stereo or multichannel front stage without giving up useful bandwidth. The two Torrent drivers cover a broad part of the spectrum without passive filtering in their own path, while the tweeter is integrated through a first-order crossover.
Key features
- Two-way wall-mounted architecture.
- 2 x 4-inch Torrent woofers.
- 1.25-inch textile-dome tweeter.
- Specified frequency response of 40 Hz-25 kHz ±3 dB.
- 89 dB sensitivity and 4-ohm nominal impedance.
- Suggested amplifier range is 30-200 W.
- First-order network crossing at 3.5 kHz.
- Bi-wiring connections support vertical or horizontal installation.
Two Torrent drivers in less than 9 cm of depth
The woofer pair uses the same broad-band magnetic philosophy found in the Element range. Variable-density fibreboard construction helps control resonant behaviour despite the very shallow cabinet, while the supplied bracket keeps the speaker close to the wall.
More compact than Tribe V
Tribe V doubles the woofer count, extends to 34 Hz and presents an 8-ohm load. Tribe III is shorter and lighter, making it easier to integrate beside medium-sized displays and furniture. It is the more appropriate choice when Torrent technology is required without the greater scale of the V.
Stereo and cinema applications
It can serve as left, right, centre or surround channel in either vertical or horizontal orientation. The 4-ohm load calls for stable amplification, particularly when several Tribe speakers are used together. It suits small and medium rooms and TV installations where floor space must remain clear. At roughly 13.6 kg, mass is substantial for such a slim speaker and helps control panel vibration. The standard bracket keeps it flush to the wall, while an optional angled bracket allows the baffle to be aimed when the listening position sits off centre. Its 91 cm height suits medium-sized televisions and also makes horizontal centre-channel placement easier on furniture or walls where available width is limited.
