AudioQuest Niagara 7000

Niagara 7000: reference power conditioner with isolation transformers

The Niagara 7000 sits at the top of the Niagara range and gathers in one unit every AudioQuest answer to the growing noise on power lines. Each detail points the same way: the directionality of the conductors with respect to radio frequency, capacitors put through a forming process developed by Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA, inlet and outlet contacts in very high-purity copper with thick silver plating, which hold plugs firmly.

Isolation transformers and filtering

The source outputs are fed by two patented symmetrical isolation transformers, the first to use Dielectric-Biased technology: biasing the dielectric cuts the non-linear distortion typical of magnetic systems and widens both the bandwidth and the efficiency of noise dissipation. The ultra-linear Level-X filtering spans over 23 octaves in differential mode (3 kHz to 1 GHz, with a reduction above 24 dB) and 20 octaves in common mode (60 Hz to 100 MHz, above 30 dB), with an even response as line and load impedance change. The patented, direction-controlled Ground Noise-Dissipation system acts on every outlet.

Current for amplifiers

The passive/active Transient Power Correction circuit keeps an instantaneous reserve of current ready (up to 25 ms) and lowers the line impedance seen by power amplifiers, with either linear or switching supplies. The aim is to correct current compression, not just to limit it. Surge protection is non-sacrificial: it takes repeated spikes without being damaged and without affecting the sound.
