Focal 100 ICLCR5: 2-way in-ceiling LCR loudspeaker
A compact in-ceiling loudspeaker with two 13 cm Polyglass woofers and a tweeter that can be aimed by 20°, meant to complete a home cinema system together with conventional or wall-mounted loudspeakers. It covers five roles: front left, centre or right channel and rear channels. It is the answer for rooms with no wall behind the listening position.
Two three-position selectors set the loudspeaker up: one chooses the left, centre or right function and corrects directivity, so the tone stays the same from every seat; the other raises or lowers the treble by 3 dB according to the acoustics of the room.
The Polyglass membrane, a Focal exclusive, is a cellulose cone coated with glass microbeads: the stiffness of glass adds to the damping of paper, for a clean, uncoloured midrange. The treble is handled by an aluminium inverted-dome tweeter, a Focal signature since 1981, which gives wide dispersion and very low directivity.
Installation
Shallow mounting depth, optimised fixing brackets and a one-piece frame: installation is quick. The magnetic grille is ready to be painted in the colour of the wall or ceiling.
