Focal Bathys MG: wireless headphones with magnesium drivers
The higher version of the Bathys: MG stands for magnesium, the material of the 40 mm M-shaped domes. Light and highly damped, it gives dynamics and detail across the band with a neutral tone; the inner grilles of the earcups follow the M profile too. Compared with the Bathys, the Bluetooth and the microphones also change, reworked to isolate the voice better.
Noise cancellation
Active noise cancellation has three modes: Silent, the strongest, for planes and trains; Soft, lighter, for home and office; Transparent, which lets voices through so you can talk with the headphones on.
Connections and use
Besides multipoint Bluetooth 5.2, with two devices connected together, you can listen by cable: from the jack or from the USB-C socket, where the built-in converter accepts files up to 24 bit / 192 kHz. The Focal and Naim app sets the five-band equaliser and the listening profile, which a hearing test of a couple of minutes tailors to the wearer; one button calls up the voice assistant.
