Focal Scala Utopia Evo M

Focal Scala Utopia Evo M: floorstanding loudspeaker, 3-way

A three-way bass reflex loudspeaker from the Utopia series, designed and built in France: the wooden cabinet comes from cabinet-makers in Burgundy, the drivers from Saint-Etienne, made in-house by Focal. Compared with the Scala Utopia Evo, all three drivers are new; it stays compact for its class.

Drivers

The 27 mm PRISM tweeter, an inverted dome with an M profile and IAL loading, uses a multi-material diaphragm worked with micro-structures: pure, extended treble. The 13 cm W midrange with M profile, reinforced and fitted with TMD suspension, derives from the Utopia Main professional monitors and has very low distortion. The redesigned 27 cm W woofer has a 16 cm dual-ferrite motor, for deep, controlled bass.

Adjustments and partners

The OPC+ crossover lets you trim bass and treble to suit the room, even a difficult one; the Focus Time layout aims the three drivers at the listener. High sensitivity and power handling give plenty of dynamics. Focal sees it as the centre of a system with Naim electronics.
