Fyne Audio SuperTrax

Time-aligned omnidirectional super tweeter to add to a pair of loudspeakers

SuperTrax is a Fyne Audio super tweeter placed alongside the main loudspeakers to stretch their frequency response far past the usual limits of human hearing. According to the manufacturer's data sheet, this upper extension brings more tonal fidelity, dynamic detail and sense of space, with an audible effect on the richness of low frequencies too. Sold as a pair.

Its output is omnidirectional and aligned in time, so the energy reflected by the room agrees with the direct sound coming from the loudspeakers. The transducer is a 25 mm Thin Ply Carbon Diaphragm (TPCD) driven by a neodymium magnet. Fyne Audio compares its role to that of a subwoofer, but at the opposite end of the spectrum: it improves phase accuracy and preserves the harmonics of the music.

Key features

• Frequency response of 16 kHz - 60 kHz (-6 dB, typical in room)
• 25 mm TPCD carbon diaphragm, neodymium magnet
• Third-order high-pass filter at 16 kHz, with cryogenic treatment
• Level adjustable by ±3 dB around the nominal setting
• Intended for loudspeakers with a sensitivity of up to 98 dB, in typical conditions
• Nominal impedance of 8 ohm, amplifiers up to 400 watt RMS

Technical data

Each super tweeter measures 86 x 140 x 257 mm (height x width x depth, as listed in the official data sheet). The maximum suggested amplifier output is 400 watt RMS and the nominal impedance is 8 ohm.

Finishes

SuperTrax is offered in Black Piano Gloss and in Walnut, the latter matching the loudspeakers of the Vintage range. The Black Piano Gloss version has adjustable feet, which are an optional accessory for the Walnut version: they level the super tweeter when the loudspeaker has a sloping top panel, as in the F700 range.
