The heart of the music
Rega Planar 10 is a Reference turntable with skeletal Tancast 8 plinth, RB3000 tonearm, ceramic-oxide platter and dedicated P10 power supply.
Planar 10 adopts many of the solutions developed for Naia and applies them to a production platform within the Reference range. The ultra-lightweight skeletal chassis uses a Tancast 8 core enclosed by HPL laminates and is stiffened in the critical area by an upper ceramic brace. The RB3000 tonearm is mounted on the same structural reference as the central bearing assembly, while the ceramic-oxide platter, diamond-tool machined, concentrates mass and precision in the rotating section. The 24 V motor is controlled by the dedicated P10 PSU.

Skeletal plinth and ceramic reinforcement
The chassis uses a Tancast 8 polyurethane foam core enclosed between two thin HPL layers. The design principle is to minimise support mass while maintaining very high rigidity between the two elements that require the most stable reference: the tonearm pivot and main bearing. On Planar 10 the upper brace is ceramic, chosen for its rigidity and ability to maintain stable structural geometry.
RB3000 tonearm and central bearing
The RB3000 is hand assembled and uses a polished aluminium arm tube, precision-machined bearing housings and individually selected components to achieve extremely free movement. The low-mass central assembly combines a one-piece machined aluminium sub-platter, hardened steel spindle and brass housing. Direct mounting to the chassis is intended to prevent unwanted energy from being stored in the plinth.
Ceramic-oxide platter
The Planar 10 platter is made from compressed and fired ceramic oxide, then finished with diamond machining to achieve high flatness and dimensional accuracy. Mass distribution follows the flywheel principle, with the aim of promoting stable rotation without overloading the central system. Coupling to the sub-platter is designed to keep the platter mechanically integral with the rotating assembly.
Motor and P10 PSU
The 24 V synchronous motor is powered by an external P10 unit designed specifically for Planar 10. Control uses a DSP generator based on a stable crystal reference to create the frequency required for the selected speed and an accurate sine wave. Each power supply is adjusted for its matched motor, also allowing fine speed adjustment and reduced vibration.
Supplied accessories
Planar 10 includes the dedicated P10 power supply and removable dust cover. Apheta 3 and Aphelion 2 MC cartridges are available as optional factory-fitted configurations.
