A reference turntable built around stability
GT-5000 is the Yamaha 5000 Series turntable, with a 5 kg aluminium platter, belt drive, short straight tonearm and balanced signal path.
The design revisits the philosophy of Yamaha's great GT turntables and concentrates mass, rigidity and mechanical simplicity around groove reading. The motor is isolated from the platter by the belt, the tonearm retains an essential geometry and the signal can be output in balanced form to a compatible preamplifier, reducing interference along the analogue chain.

5 kg platter
The aluminium platter weighs 5 kg and provides high rotating mass, helping to keep speed stable during playback. The platter's inertia works together with the turntable structure to reduce instantaneous variations, while its diameter and support are dimensioned as parts of the mechanical system rather than as isolated components.
Belt drive and motor
GT-5000 uses a 24-pole, 2-phase AC synchronous motor that transfers motion to the platter through a belt. Physically separating the motor from the playing surface limits the direct transfer of vibration to the cartridge and allows the heavy platter to perform its role in stabilising rotation.
Short straight tonearm
The tonearm uses a straight shape and short length to reduce effective mass and simplify the transmission of vibration through the structure. Yamaha favours a rigid and direct construction here, consistent with the aim of reading groove variations without introducing unnecessary mechanical elements.
Balanced signal path
The signal generated by the cartridge can remain balanced along the output path, an especially useful solution because the electrical level produced by a cartridge is very low and therefore sensitive to noise. With a compatible preamplifier, the balanced connection completes the philosophy of the 5000 Series.
Mass and vibration control
The cabinet and customised feet are designed to provide a stable mechanical reference for the platter and tonearm. Mass is not used only as a visual element: structure, supports and internal layout work together to limit external vibration and that generated by the rotating system before it can reach the stylus.
5000 Series and finish
The Piano Black finish visually links GT-5000 to the other 5000 Series components and recalls Yamaha piano craftsmanship. The turntable is designed to partner the C-5000 preamplifier, M-5000 power amplifier and NS-5000 speakers, while retaining connections suitable for Hi-Fi systems of different compositions.
