Blu-ray · Dolby Atmos · 5.1 Surround · Stereo · Binaural
HAEVN's concert film, shot without an audience and remixed in Dolby Atmos.
The Amsterdam duo's songs rearranged for strings and choir, with the sound rebuilt from the original multitracks in Dolby Atmos, 5.1, stereo and a binaural version for headphones.
The story of the album
HAEVN formed in Amsterdam in 2015, when singer-songwriter Marijn van der Meer met film composer Jorrit Kleijnen while working on a soundtrack. "Where the Heart Is" and "Finding Out More", picked for a TV commercial, made them known beyond the Netherlands, and their 2018 debut album Eyes Closed reached number two in the Dutch charts.
In 2021, with concerts halted by the pandemic, the band reworked its songs for a nine-piece string ensemble and the G-Roots Gospel Choir and played them in the empty hall of the De Vereeniging theatre in Nijmegen. The musicians were not on stage but in the middle of the stalls, so director Robin Piree's cameras could move among them.
Fifteen songs, from "The Sea" to "Back in the Water". The film first came out on DVD in stereo only; for the Blu-ray the sound was remixed from scratch, and in the Dolby Atmos mix strings and choir surround the listener as they did in the hall.
