OUR PICK FOR NOVEMBER 2026
Hard riffs, acoustic pauses and a flute you never forget
Issued in 1971, Aqualung is the fourth studio album by Jethro Tull and the one that made them known worldwide. It moves between rock songs with cutting guitars and acoustic pages close to chamber music: from the title track "Aqualung" to the drive of "Locomotive Breath" and the gentleness of "Wond'ring Aloud".
Ian Anderson's flute and voice lead the sound, Martin Barre's guitars give it weight and John Evans' organ bridges the two sides of the record. That play of opposites made it a cornerstone of progressive rock, loved even by listeners who rarely go near the genre.
In the Dolby Atmos mix every layer finds its place: acoustic and electric guitars, voice, flute and organ, packed tightly in the original mix, open up in the room without losing the gap between the loudest passages and the most intimate ones. And it is the first time Aqualung in Atmos comes out on disc.
