Compact refinement, the KEF sound signature
The KEF Q1 Meta are bookshelf speakers designed for those who wish to enter the world of HiFi with a compact solution that is nonetheless rich in high-level technical content. This model adopts the renowned 12th-generation Uni-Q architecture with MAT™ (Metamaterial Absorption Technology), a combination that helps to achieve more precise, cleaner and more spatially coherent reproduction. The 2-way bass reflex design makes the Q1 Meta versatile in many domestic settings, from stereo listening to an advanced desktop set-up, through to use as a channel in home cinema configurations. KEF presents it as a compact speaker capable of delivering engaging hi-fi sound without compromise relative to its size.
Uni-Q technology and more natural listening
The heart of the KEF Q1 Meta is the coaxial Uni-Q assembly, with a 25 mm vented aluminium tweeter featuring MAT™ and a 130 mm aluminium LF/MF cone. This configuration is designed to improve the focus of the sound image and the coherence between frequencies, with a crossover set at 2.1 kHz. The stated frequency response is 51 Hz – 20 kHz (±3 dB), while the extension reaches 47 Hz – 20 kHz (-6 dB), figures that make it suitable for small and medium-sized rooms and for systems where a balance between detail, musicality and a compact footprint is sought.
An entry-level speaker in price only
Despite being the most affordable model in the new Q series, the Q1 Meta retains a very complete specification. It offers a sensitivity of 86 dB, an impedance of 4 Ω (min. 3.2 Ω), a recommended amplifier power of 10 – 150 W and a maximum pressure of 108 dB. The dimensions are 302 × 180 × 277 mm including terminals, with a weight of 6.1 kg per unit. The official finishes available are Satin Black, Satin White and Walnut, for easy placement in modern or more classic settings.
