A universal player for listeners who still want to use physical discs properly
Magnetar UDP-800 MKII brings UHD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, SACD, DVD-Audio and CD playback into one source, with 4K HDR video and dedicated stereo analogue outputs.
In a market dominated by streaming, physical media still offers access to owned editions, full disc collections and formats built up over many years. The MKII version updates the audio board, HDMI path and USB implementation while retaining the core idea of one universal player for both cinema and music.

One machine for disc-based cinema and music
UDP-800 MKII removes the need for separate video and audio disc players. It can move from a Dolby Atmos UHD Blu-ray to SACD or DVD-Audio while still providing dedicated stereo analogue outputs for a Hi-Fi amplifier. It particularly suits users with mixed collections who want to keep everything playable through one component.
How it differs from UDP-900 MKII
The 900 MKII steps up mainly in its analogue audio architecture, using two ESS9038PRO DACs, adding 7.1-channel analogue output and employing a more extensively separated internal construction. UDP-800 MKII is therefore the more straightforward choice when universal disc playback and strong video performance matter, while multichannel decoding is handled digitally by an AV processor.
When to choose UDP-800 MKII
It fits home-cinema and stereo systems built around physical media but still needing network and file playback. It makes most sense for users wanting broad format compatibility and dedicated stereo audio without paying for the expanded analogue section of the 900 MKII or the digital-only architecture of ULTIMA.
