CD 70: a choice built around the system
CD 70 connects sources, listening priorities and space through a coherent configuration.
CD 70 is a Marantz CD player with DAC and USB designed for a defined stereo role. Configuration, sources and loudspeakers should be chosen together: its value lies not in a feature count alone, but in the way it simplifies or specialises the system.
Key features
- CD and CD-R/RW
- high-performance DAC
- USB playback
- analogue and digital outputs
- remote control
The new entry to Marantz CD replay
CD 70 is for a listener who wants a simple source: CD drawer, internal DAC and USB playback. It provides neither HEOS nor HDMI. It partners MODEL 70 when phone and television are already handled by the amplifier and the player needs to serve physical media alone.
Two routes to the amplifier
The analogue output uses the internal converter, while the digital connection hands conversion to an external DAC. This alternative allows an owner to begin with RCA and upgrade later without making the disc mechanism redundant.
USB is not a network
The USB port reads music from directly attached storage. It does not bring online services, multiroom operation or HEOS control. This is a straightforward route to local folders and albums for those who do not want to configure a connected platform.
The proper comparison
CD60 adds a more ambitious design, HDAM-SA2 and an adjustable headphone output, while CD 50n integrates networking and ARC. CD 70 is the access point: lower in price and reduced to disc, USB files and the outputs required.
The check before purchase
Before choosing CD 70, confirm that cd and cd-r/rw, high-performance dac and usb playback genuinely match the system priorities. That combination, alongside available inputs and shelf space, separates it from nearby alternatives: an unused feature cannot compensate for an unsuitable match.
