MODEL 70: a choice built around the system
MODEL 70 connects sources, listening priorities and space through a coherent configuration.
MODEL 70 is a Marantz stereo integrated amplifier with HDMI designed for a defined stereo role. Configuration, sources and loudspeakers should be chosen together: its value lies not in a feature count alone, but in the way it simplifies or specialises the system.
Key features
- 2x50 W high-current amplification
- HDMI ARC
- Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive
- built-in DAC
- MM phono stage
Essential stereo, including television
MODEL 70 is a 2x50 W integrated amplifier that accepts television sound through HDMI ARC, digital sources through its DAC and an MM turntable. Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive adds wireless playback. It does not include HEOS, so its simplicity differs from a network amplifier.
A first separates system
Analogue, digital and phono inputs allow a system to begin with two loudspeakers and gain sources over time. Fifty watts demands attention to sensitivity, impedance and room size, but avoids paying for unused output in a modest space.
HDMI does not mean home cinema
ARC receives a stereo signal from the television and eases control; MODEL 70 does not handle extra channels, video inputs or Atmos formats. It suits a pair of speakers replacing a soundbar. Multichannel cinema requires the CINEMA range, while STEREO 70s supplies six HDMI inputs in stereo.
A new entry point
Against PM6007, MODEL 70 adds HDMI ARC, aptX Adaptive Bluetooth and a more current digital platform. Against MODEL 60n it omits HEOS and reduces output. The choice depends on how music arrives: phone and television, or services managed directly by the amplifier.
The check before purchase
Before choosing MODEL 70, confirm that 2x50 w high-current amplification, hdmi arc and bluetooth with aptx adaptive genuinely match the system priorities. That combination, alongside available inputs and shelf space, separates it from nearby alternatives: an unused feature cannot compensate for an unsuitable match.
