The ElectroMotion ESLC centre speaker in its special gloss black lacquer finish. It is the same three-way design as the standard model: an XStat electrostatic panel for the midrange, a Folded Motion tweeter and two 13.3 cm aluminium woofers, in a cabinet made to slot into AV furniture.
ElectroMotion ESLC: the centre in gloss black
In this version the ElectroMotion ESLC comes lacquered in gloss black; the acoustic design is unchanged. At the front is a low, curved XStat panel using Curvilinear Line Source technology, whose 740 cm² of radiating area reproduces the midrange from 600 to 3,400 Hz, where voices fall. Housed behind the panel is a 2.6 x 3.6 cm Folded Motion tweeter with a light diaphragm and short stroke, which carries on up to 23 kHz. At the bottom the centre reaches 66 Hz (±3 dB), enough to give weight to effects coming from the screen.
The low end uses the CenterForce layout: the two 13.3 cm aluminium-cone woofers sit not beside the panel but in a slot at the middle of the cabinet, in a braced volume placed behind the other two drivers. This arrangement is what holds the size to 19.3 cm in height and 57.9 cm in width, measurements that suit the shelves of AV furniture. Aluminium, stiff and light, cuts cone flexing and makes response quicker.
With 89 dB sensitivity and a nominal 4 ohms, the centre accepts amplification from 20 to 300 W. The filter carries a purpose-wound transformer for audio, coils with air cores, low-resistance steel-laminate inductors and polyester capacitors; cables fasten to posts tightened by hand. Its tonal character matches the floorstanders of the series, which it is made to work with.
