A two-way wall-mount surround speaker: two Folded Motion XT tweeters arranged for very wide coverage, plus a 16.5 cm reflex-loaded woofer. It fits on a flat wall, in a corner or angled, serving the ambience channels of a home cinema system.
FX2: drivers and cabinet
The FX2 is the surround of the ElectroMotion series and, unlike the main speakers in that series, does without an electrostatic panel. Treble is handled by two Folded Motion XT tweeters measuring 3.2 x 6.1 cm, angled to cover 160° horizontally: coverage that broad is what ambience channels call for, where wrapping sound around the listener matters more than pinpointing the speaker. The XT version of the tweeter has 40% more radiating surface than the Folded Motion units of the Motion series, which pays off in bandwidth and efficiency. It crosses over to the woofer at 2,300 Hz, and the filter includes thermal and current protection for the tweeters.
Bass comes from a 16.5 cm woofer with a paper cone and die-cast aluminium basket, loaded by a reflex port. Stated response runs from 55 Hz to 25 kHz within ±3 dB. Sensitivity is high at 93 dB and nominal impedance is 5 ohms: 20 W is enough to get it going, and suggested amplification goes up to 200 W a channel.
The cabinet allows three kinds of fixing: flat against the wall, into a corner, or angled away from the wall, so it can adapt to the room. Fitted to a flat wall it stands 17.2 cm proud, a figure that keeps it unobtrusive even in large rooms. Connection is by push terminals that also accept banana plugs.
