A stereo in-ceiling loudspeaker supplied as a pair: one 165 mm dual-voice-coil woofer and two 19 mm soft-dome tweeters reproduce both channels, for compact spaces such as bathrooms, kitchens and hallways.
Helos 22: stereo from one position
Helos 22 is meant for rooms where two separate speakers will not fit. Its 165 mm aluminium woofer carries two voice coils, one per channel, and works alongside a pair of 19 mm neodymium tweeters: wire left and right to their own terminals and a single spot in the ceiling returns the complete stereo signal. The maker suggests it for bathrooms, small offices, entrance halls and kitchens, or up front in a room that has a television.
The same unit can be wired for mono by bridging its inputs: it then presents 4 ohms and takes 20 to 200 watts, with very broad dispersion that suits centre, front or surround duty. Run in stereo, each half is an 8 ohm load fed by 20 to 100 watts a side. In a 5.1 layout one Helos 22 placed behind the seats can handle the two surround channels together. The Vojtko crossover operates at 2,600 Hz and relies on air-core inductors and polyester capacitors.
The opening to cut is 212 mm in diameter and 123 mm of clearance is needed above the surface; once fitted the speaker stands 4.5 mm proud. The fixing system keeps its clamps inside their seats until mounting, then tightens them against the ceiling, and draws them back in if the speaker is removed. A life-size template with brief instructions is included. The micro-perforated grille is very thin and frameless, is held on by magnets and takes paint.
