The IC6-HT is a two-way in-ceiling loudspeaker for home cinema, sold as a pair: woofer and tweeter are tilted by 30° and are aimed at the listening position by turning the speaker in its hole.
IC6-HT: the angled baffle and the drivers
In a multichannel system the ceiling speakers are rarely right above the listener's head: that is why the IC6-HT carries its woofer and tweeter on a special front baffle, tilted 30° from the ceiling. Before the locking clamps are tightened you turn the whole assembly until it points at the listening area, then fix it. It is the choice for large rooms, where main or surround channels have to come from above without losing their sense of direction.
The 16.5 cm bass/midrange unit, with a polypropylene cone carrying a mineral filler and a computer-optimised ferrite magnet, is paired with a 25 mm titanium tweeter cooled by ferrofluid; the crossover sits at 2,500 Hz and the filter, in Vojtko topology, is assembled by hand. Response covers 55 Hz to 20 kHz, sensitivity is 89 dB and the load suits 8 ohm amplifiers, with power of up to 80 W.
Tilting the drive units takes more room than the IC6 needs: the hole is 263 mm in diameter, the depth required is 126 mm and the outer diameter reaches 289 mm, standing 7 mm proud. The micro-perforated grille stays flat against the ceiling, fixes with magnets and can be painted. The cutting template is included; the square grille and pre-installation bracket specific to this model are separate accessories.
