MOTION XTW6-LCR: drivers and crossover
The MOTION XTW6-LCR is the largest LCR design in the Motion XT CI range and a three-way: alongside its two 165 mm woofers it adds a midrange of the same diameter, closed off in a sealed chamber of its own, which the maker says resolves more detail and clarity and raises output capability. The stated aim is to approach what a floorstanding loudspeaker does without taking up its floor space. Response runs from 44 Hz to 25 kHz within ±3 dB and sensitivity is 93 dB.
All three cones are black woven Kevlar with a Nomex layer on the rear, carried on cast aluminium baskets; the woofers run open-backed and make use of the wall cavity. The Folded Motion XT pleated-film tweeter radiates over 80 degrees by 30 and sits in a housing that rotates, so the panel, 711 mm long and 195 mm wide, can also go in horizontally where needed, for example as a centre channel.
The Vojtko crossover splits the band at 260 and 2,470 Hz with air-core inductors and polyester film capacitors, and shields the tweeter from thermal and current overload. The load is 4 ohms and the suggested amplifier rating is 50 to 300 W. Fitting calls for a 169 x 685 mm opening and 90 mm of depth; the magnetic micro-perforated grille, which can be painted, stands about 3 mm proud. Each speaker weighs 8.6 kg and pre-installation brackets are offered separately.
