Dynamo 12 is the larger model in the Dynamo series: a sealed powered subwoofer with a 30.5 cm aluminium woofer, an 800 W amplifier and built-in wireless, for bigger rooms and for listeners after more output and extension.
Dynamo 12: how it is built
Features and connections match those of the Dynamo 10; what changes is the cone diameter, up to 30.5 cm, and the power in reserve. The woofer is a MartinLogan design in long-throw anodised aluminium on a pressed-steel basket, developed with Klippel measurements to hold distortion down even at high levels. In a closed box it reaches 22 Hz, with stated response up to 120 Hz within ±3 dB, and the cabinet stays modest: just over 42 cm tall and about 40 cm wide and deep.
Current comes from the Magnitude MT-1.6kW, which supplies 800 W continuous and rises to 1,600 W on peaks while keeping the cone under control. The Vojtko DSP engine, running at 500 MHz and 64 bits, makes possible app control over Bluetooth, the wireless audio link and support for ARC room correction. In the Subwoofer Control app you choose low-pass corner and filter order, phase, polarity and one of the Movie, Music or Night curves, and can trim the region between 20 and 30 Hz by ±10 dB.
The subwoofer arrives with its own wireless transmitter, while the receiver is internal. The panel also offers stereo RCA, LFE on both RCA and XLR, terminals for a high-level signal, an output to a second subwoofer and a power selector for permanent, automatic or 12 V trigger operation. The strengthened 25.4 mm MDF front panel gives the woofer a stable footing. Underneath, the anti-vibration feet limit floor and wall resonances; spikes are supplied for carpet.
