10 amps for a pre/power system with isolated source zones
BPC10 is a 10 A balanced mains conditioner with 6 outlets across 3 isolated zones.
BPC10 is sized for a pre/power system with isolated source zones. It provides 6 outlets across 3 isolated zones and a maximum total current of 10 A, allocated as one 1.550 VA and two 200 VA . Its 2.400 VA balanced toroidal transformer reduces common-mode noise and separates outlet groups; overload and surge protection operate without fuses in the ground path. Selection starts with actual consumption rather than socket count.
Key features
- 6 outlets across 3 isolated zones
- 10 A maximum total current
- 2.400 VA balanced transformer
- Overload and surge protection
- Steel chassis and aluminium fascia
The load that defines it
The 1,550 VA zone serves a power amplifier and two 200 VA zones separate preamp and sources. This makes BPC10 natural for a component system without spending main capacity on low-consumption devices.
Balanced power technology
A balanced transformer divides voltage symmetrically with respect to earth, allowing part of common noise to cancel. BPC10 explains the principle for the family: it does not regenerate a new sine wave or correct mains voltage like an active regulator.
Protection and protective earth
Overload and surge are monitored without placing fuses in the circuit ground. This cannot replace a residual-current device, effective earth or building protection. Connections, polarity and consumption should be checked professionally at high power.
Allocate before connecting
The 3 zones are not 3 unlimited power strips: they share 10 A total and use the stated allocation. Assign the largest load to the strongest group first, then separate digital sources, analogue equipment and control. Leaving margin is better than operating at the threshold.
Chassis and placement
Its transformer adds weight and creates a magnetic field: BPC10 weighs 33 kg. The steel chassis and aluminium fascia shield interference, but need a stable shelf, open air and distance from cartridges or sensitive phono cables. If the power amplifier alone exceeds the main-zone capacity, moving to BPC16 is correct rather than distributing one product across different outlets. A component with one mains lead must never be split through improvised adapters. For BPC10, dimensions, weight, ventilation, connections and system capacity should be checked as one project, leaving operating margin instead of using every specification at its limit. A trial in the actual chain remains more useful than conclusions drawn from one technical figure. In a pre/power chain, the main bank feeds amplification while the two smaller branches divide digital conversion from the analogue source. Six outlets avoid an extra strip and create readable rack topology. Ten-amp capacity suits a substantial separate system provided the power amplifier remains within its 1,550 VA allocation.
