Moving coil cartridge with an elliptical stylus.

SPU GTX E: the design

The SPU is Ortofon's historic moving coil, built into its own headshell: it weighs about 30 grams and tracks at high forces, so it needs a tonearm of suitable mass with a standard mount.

It carries an elliptical stylus. Output is 4 mV, it tracks at 4 g and wants a load of 47 kohms.

The step-up transformer sits inside the body: it connects straight to an MM phono input.
