Ortofon ST-70

Reference MC step-up transformer for low-output cartridges

The Ortofon ST-70 is a high-end passive step-up transformer, designed to get the most from low-impedance MC cartridges. Conceived for high-level analogue systems, it lets you raise the gain without adding noise, preserving micro-detail, dynamics and natural tone. An ideal solution for anyone who wants to connect an MC cartridge to an MM phono stage while keeping the signal as intact as possible.

Dual-mono design and advanced shielding

The dual-mono construction with individually shielded transformers drastically reduces interference and crosstalk between channels. The care taken over materials and winding geometry ensures an extended response, a stable soundstage and consistent results even in highly revealing systems.

Simple to integrate, top-level performance

The ST-70 is fully passive: it needs no power supply or adjustment and works straight away. Its high-quality RCA connections provide a reliable link between turntable and MM phono preamplifier. It is intended for MC cartridges with very low impedance, giving correct electrical matching and smooth, controlled music reproduction.
